Heartstrings for Healing Justice
Heartstrings for Healing Justice is a project to support collective healing, centering those on the margins. I am constantly in awe of the resiliency of folks who survive in the face of oppression. Healing is an individual process, but it is also powerful when felt within community. The way that each person experiences healing is so unique. The heart is a muscle, & the more that we use it, the stronger it gets. The strings are the cords, the connecting tissue from the muscles to the valves, the path that the blood must flow. To support the heart, we clear the way, to flush the lymph, to bring oxygen to the cells, creating space for the lungs to fill, and for the nervous system to reset. Sometimes the cords get tight, firing pain receptors, activating the nervous system; it is only when the strings are relaxed, that blood is able to flow.
From this platform I will be sharing glimpses of healing work, to encourage and inspire your own journey. I will also be launching a series of workshops to offer support in wellness & building curriculum for trainings for wellness providers to become more accessible and competent when encountering these folks in the community. Another element key to this project will be to talk about the history of massage therapy, to give credit where credit is due, to shed light on the history of colonization and how this has impacted this field.
